101 in 1,001

Hey everyone, so I was looking at someones blog a while ago and I stumbled upon this 101 in 1,001 post. I looked it up and was surprised to see how many people have actually done this challenge type of thing. What is it you may ask! Well, it is a list of 101 things that you have 1,001 days to complete. It is not like a bucketlist in that these are smaller goals and things that can be done as part of any day. It isn't some crazy I need to travel all of the world, although I do have some traveling goals on here. But I also have "go on a picnic" on the list. So it is basically things that you want to do and having a time limit on it just helps you actually get out and do it. I think I am going to just keep updating this list when I finish something. I will make them in bold print to show that I have done them. I will also try and update with photos if I can. Without further ado, my list (in no particular order because I would have random moments of inspiration while writing this and would just add them as they came!):

Mini Declutter

Hello lovelies, so I recently took an update on my makeup inventory and...well...a majority of my numbers went up instead of down despite the fact that I have been working through quite a few of the products in my collection. So I decided that it was time to be honest with myself on products that I am just not going to use and to just get rid of them, for the sake of my numbers, my space, and a bit of my sanity. I didn't get rid of too much, but I am happy with what I did decide to declutter.

ELF Cream eyeliner in Black and in Olive - I have had both of these for way too long and while they haven't dried out just yet, I know that I am not going to be reaching for them anytime soon. I am not a fan of cream eyeliner in general so that is the main reason I am getting rid of the black one, but the green one I am getting rid of because it is nowhere near as good as the black one. It was really patchy and crumbly. If you are into cream liner than the black one would be a pretty good one to get, especially for practice purposes since it is so inexpensive, but I would steer clear of the green one.

Wet n Wild trio in Sweet as Candy - I hit pan on the browbone shade in this trio, however I never reach for it. I have used it a lot in the past and it is always what I reach for when I want a pink, but I hardly do those looks and I have pinks in other palettes that I could reach for. I think this was the first eye shadow that I bought, but that is no reason to hold onto it. I like the formula well enough that I would consider purchasing other eyeshadows like this from the brand.

Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick in Airy Fairy - I remember searching high and low for this lipstick. I had heard such amazing things about the color and the formula. The formula is not bad, however the color is terrible on me. I sought it out because it is supposed to be the perfect nude for fair skinned girls, but everytime I wore this I would take it off or feel the need to mix it. It also has a slight shimmeryness to it that I am not a fan of.

Loreal Silkisimee eye liner in Gold - I hate to have to face the fact that something about Loreal liners really irritate my eyes. I have gotten rid of a purple one in the past, but held on to this gold because it is so pretty. I haven't been able to find a replacement for it yet and thats why I held on to it for so long, but no sense in holding on to something that will make my eyes water and ruin my makeup anyway.

CVS eyeliner in brown - I have so many brown eyeliners that I like and since I haven't used this I know that my sister will take it.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Standout - there is no reason that I should have even bought this in the first place let alone to have held on to it for this long. I don't wear red lips at all and so I own more than I need to and I don't mind getting rid of this one because I think I only paid a couple of bucks for it. I was tihnking of trying to use it for corrective purposes, but I don't really care for the extra step.

Urban Decay Lipstick samples in Bang and Venom - I will never wear these since they are so full color and I count these individually in my inventory, and like I said I really just needed to make those numbers stop growing.

Pop Beauty lipgloss in Peony Petal - I know I am not going to wear this because it is too full color for me and I am not a fan of such bright colors. Also the smell is kind of off since I have had it for so long.

Not much, but a small dent in the numbers is better than no dent at all. I will have to become really realistic with myself soon enough that I only have one face and I can't wear all of this makeup before it goes bad. I will definitely need to do this again soon, maybe more extensively where my shadows, palettes, and brushes are concerned. I may consider letting my sisters go through and picking out what they would like. Have any of you decluttered things that just don't work for you recently?

7 Summer Flings Update #2

Hello lovelies, I have my second update on my 7 Summer Flings project pan! I have managed to finish 1 product in the past month. I mismarked one of my products so when I used it last night (I marked these yesterday morning) and it was all used up I was pretty happy about that. I didn't take a new photo for it though because I am on campus right now and I didn't have time last night to get a new one.

St. Ives Spray Lotion - I have no actual idea where I am with this, but I have been trying to be more consistent about using it. I like how it is a more cold spray and that is very cooling considering how hot it has been lately.

Taylor Swift Incredible Things Bath Gel - This is the product that I finished up. I struggled to get the last use out of it while in the shower last night. I love the smell of it, but I am excited to go back to a more hydrating shower gel.

MArio Badescu Facial Spray - I don't know that this will be done by the end of the project. I use this everyday at least twice a day and I haven't made too much progress. It was basically brand new when I started though so I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't finish it up.

Jergen Natural Glow Lotion - I used this maybe twice. I think I am going to focus on this lotion and once I am done with it I will go back to the St. Ives one. Since I am using a face tanning product, it makes more sense to have a tanner body now.

Color Pop Amaze - I have a really good dent in this. I think I am going to hit pan on this and then give it to my sister because I really can't deal with the glitter fallout.

BBW liplicious - I carry this around with me and apply it like a lip balm, and still there is very little progress. Twice as much as I had before, but still not enough considering this part of the tube has less product than the rest of the tube. I am going to basically be eating this lip gloss to get it done in the next 2 months.

ELF Face Primer - I am having some serious issue with this primer. The pump on it is absolutely terrible and it has these little crystal things that scratch my face when I am applying it and they stay on my skin until I wipe them away. I can't wait to be done with this.

Well there it is, a quick update for you all. I have 2 more months to work on these products. I am a little worried about a few of them. I think I can hit pan on the colour pop shadow which would make it done and I can get that Jergens lotion done if I focus enough on it. The rest of them will probably take me all the way to the end of the project though.

Project Ipsy Months 6 & 7 Update!

Hello lovelies, I am finally updating my project ipsy. Last month was a month of very little makeup and so I just forgot to update this project. I had marked everything and was ready to go with it all in a bin on my desk, but it just slipped my mind to actually take the photos. So I will get right into the update on the products that have been in the project and then the products I added each month.

Sexy Hair - Spray Clay - I am not sure if this progress is new or if it was from a couple of months ago, but it is some progress. It will probably take me the rest of the year to finish this since I am don't really style my hair often.

Pure Brazillion - Leave in Conditioner - I have steady progress with this product. I wish I remembered to use it more often because it smells really good, but I am not a fan of having product in my hair that often.

Mary Kay - Jelly lip gloss - Still steady progress on this. I feel like I am not going to be able to finish this by the end of the year unless I really kick it into high gear.

Pixi - Flawless Beauty Primer - I'll probably start reaching for this more now since it is summer. I think I started with that red line and that is where I still am.

Absolute - Lip balm - I have made some progress on this. I hoped that I would have been able to hit side pan, but I lost it for a while. I guess I'll just have that goal for next update!

em - waterliner - I made progress on this without even trying in the past 5 months.

Chella - Ivorylace - Still steady progress.

J Cat - Big Lip Pencil - Still steady progress here too.

Bare Minerals - Get Ready - No progress. Hopefully some next month.

NYX - Butter Lip Balm - tiny bit of progress this month. I have been trying so hard to use this.

Starlooks - Amethyst - No progress here.

Products added in month 6:

Vasanti - Brighten Up - I had put this in the bin to be photographed so there is no progress on this. But I have used it recently, and I like it so it probably won't last more than another month or two.

Avene - Thermal Spring Water - I don't really care for this so I used it to wet my real techniques sponge when I am too lazy to go to a sink. I can't use this over makeup because it is too intense of a mist, my face gets really wet from it.

Skinn - Lip Exfoliator - This is a newer ipsy item compared to the items I have had in this project, however I wanted to make sure I used it before it went bad since it is made with more natural stuff and because I have to put my finger in it I don't want to have it laying around for years.

Products added this month:

Ofra - Bliss - The goal is to just hit pan on this. I have had it for a while and it is so pretty, but I haven't used it nearly enough. The pan is larger than a regular single shadow and I really like that. It is a really nice champagne color.

St. Tropez - Gradual Face Tan - Since summer is kicking into full swing, I think this would be nice to try out. I like that it is gradual since I am pretty fair and I wouldn't want something too drastic, just some slight color.

Hang Ten - Tanning Oil - I am curious to try this again since I used it last year and while I got some color, I also got a slight rash from this. I am going to try it with a lot of SPF and see what happens. This may end up as a decluttered item though.

So to date I have only finished 23 products. I really wanted  to be much farther along now that the year is halfway over. Hopefully from this batch I should have at least the face tan and the face exfoliator done. I want to start adding items that are going to actually be done after a month but there aren't many. I am going to have to kick it into high gear on the products that are not in this project but are just sitting in my collection.

I have gotten through quite a few products this year, not just in this project, but in general. I am really making a point to use what I have and try to actually finish things up where I would normally use things until they are almost done and end up rotating them out before I finish them. Used to Date : 15

Well there it is. Doubled the amount of products that I used, but I would have definitely preferred to have finished more at this point in the year. I think I need to focus and make more of an effort to put these products into my project pans as opposed to other products.

How are all of your projects going? Are you a part of this one? If so, leave a link down below and I can check out your progress!

Panning Pro Tag

Hello lovelies, I saw this tag floating around the Project Pan Community and I thought I would go ahead and do it.

1) How did you learn about project panning? What was your first impression?

--> I had heard about project panning years ago and had once attempted it, however it was a complete fail and I got over it quickly enough. Then, a little less than a year ago, I started to see decluttering videos come up on Youtube and I became addicted to watching those. I noticed that a lot of the people who did decluttering also did project pans. I have been addicted ever since.

2) What is the hardest thing you've panned? The easiest?

--> I think the easiest thing to pan for me has been eyeshadows, and I mean I only hit pan not completely use them up. Setting powders are also pretty easy for me to pan. The hardest is pretty much everything else. Lip products, with the exception of liners, are really hard for me because I like to rotate those, same goes for blush. Face primers also take me forever and a day to get through so I never end up using them completely in a project and I guess that makes them hard.

3) Have you attempted a Pan That Palette? Why or why not?

--> No, I think that having to stick to one palette for an entire year is way past my league of project panning. I don't know that I would be able to actually commit to it. I love rotating my palettes so often that it would be too difficult for me to be stuck using the same palette for a year. I am trying to hit pan on as many shadows as I can this year though and that is going amazing!

4) Has panning affected your makeup buying habits? If so how?

--> I think that taking an inventory has helped more with my shopping habits than project panning. I do like to find products that I would be able to keep progress on and I reach for those more than something that I can't do that with. I guess I do think twice before I buy anything though. I mean that I always try to finish the products in my projects before I buy more for that specific category.

5) What do you plan to pan next?

--> I am always doing full project pan and I have several going on now, so I don't know how to answer this question. I love doing them roulette style because that way I have no idea of what I am going to be panning next.

6) Where do you get your panning inspiration/motivation?

--> From the panning community. It is such an amazing and supportive group of individuals. Seriously my favorite part of project panning is the community.

7) What is your favorite thing about the panning community?

--> Again, so supportive and motivational. It is such a positive environment and I didn't think that still existed on the internet.

8) If you're currently project panning what one item is giving you the most trouble?

--> Like I said I am always project panning. Lip gloss. I have multiple lip glosses to get through and I swear they don't go anywhere no matter how much I apply.

9) How long do you plan to project pan? Do you see yourself stopping at any point?

--> I don't think that I ever want to stop panning. I love being challenged and trying to make sure I use products before it is time for another update and actually getting use out of my products. I think I will start to cut back a little and not be doing 5 projects at once like a crazy person.

10) Would you recommend panning to others? How would you explain it?

I have attempted to explain my love of project panning to others and they just don't get it. I recommend it to very specific people who I know won't look at me like I am a crazy person when I start to talk about it. I guess I would explain it as just using the products that I have and not trying to go out and buy new makeup all the time when I have so much of it as it is. It is using the makeup you have before it goes bad so you aren't wasting your money. It is a challenge and it is frustrating as heck, but it's fun.

Read 5 by November 5th! Book Challenge

Hello lovelies, so I realize that the content of my blog has been lacking in all things bookish as of late, but I am changing that today! I have been seeing a challenge floating around in youtube to read 5 books by November 5th which is Bonfire Night. This is a cross between my love of books and my love of project panning, so of course I decided to join on in. I have chosen 6 books instead of 5 because I am not sure that I can really commit to some of these, but I really want to finish them. I have too many unfinished books on my shelf that I need to finish so I can enjoy all the other books that I have recently purchased and want to read. I have already started 4 of the 6 books, but I haven't gotten real far in any of them except one of them.

1. Morning Light by Catherine Anderson - This is going to be a reread for me. I went through a phase where all I would read was romance novels, but it has been a while and I am actually excited to get into this one again. A girl with visions, a rancher, and a lost boy make up the story and I am excited to rediscover this book.

2. A Short History of Women by Kate Walbert - This book follows 5 generations of women, starting with a suffragette in 1914 and ends post 9/11. I started this book a little while ago, and it seems like a really short read, however I haven't been able to really get into it just yet.

3. Ciao Bella by Gina Buonaguro and Janice Kirk - I bought this book off of bookoutlet a little while ago because it seemed like a combination of some of my favorite things - historical fiction, Italy, and a love story. I haven'tread much of it, just the prologue, but I am curious to see where the story goes with this book.

4. to all the boys I've loved before by Jenny Han - A contemporary novel that came highly recommended by my sister who is obsessed with all things book (@areaderguide on instagram!). I am always up for easy reads and this seems like one. I have heard amazing things about Jenny Han's writing so I look forward to reading this, even though I have found that reading anything from the perspective of a teenager is not really what I am into anymore. I'll have to see how this goes though.

5. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling - I started this and haven't gotten past chapter 2 because life keeps getting in the way. It is too heavy of a book for me to carry around, so I am limited on when I can reach for this. I do want to get through this one though because I really loved this movie and I want to finish the Harry Potter series if it is the last thing I do!

6. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson - I started this book years ago and I am just shy of being half way through the book. I really enjoyed the first 2, but they are pretty slow paced to start and don't get to the point where I can't put them down until closer to the end of the story. I want to finish this and what better a time to pick it up again than when I am challenging myself to read it.

So, there are teh 6 novels that I hope to have at least 5 of read by November 5th. When I mentioned this to my sister she laughed in my face and said "It's going to take you that long to read 5 books?!" To that I say yes, it will because I am the worlds slowest reader, which I am okay with. However I also like to read multiple books at a time and I tend to not finish books because of it. I look forward to getting all these unfinished books read!!
