Project Pan Roulette Update #1

Hello lovelies, I bring to you all today my first update for my project pan roulette. Since I have started a project with a deadline, I kind of put this project on the side and there isn't nearly as much progress on everything like I had hoped there would be. I have decided to go on a low-buy until I can finish 10 of the 12 products. It will actually be a no-buy, but I am rewarding myself after I finish 5 of them so I am considering it a low-buy. Anyway, I'll just get right into my progress. I haven't finished anything yet. Also, if you would like to know what each of the categories were, you will have to look at the intro because I don't want this to be longer than it has to be, there are too many products to get through!

1. NYC Smooth skin loose face powder - The marking that I had made completely rubbed off of this. I am almost done with this...unfortunately it was not all of my doing. My niece got ahold of this product not once, but twice. It is nearing the end of it's time and I won't miss it honestly. I have come to the realization that I really don't like loose powder, it is just such a mess.
2. Artistry Light up lip gloss in Champagne - I made decent progress on this. It looks terribly metallic if I put too much on, but just a tiny bit on the center of my lips makes for a great highlight.
3. Wet n Wild blush in Heather Silk - My goal is to just hit pan on this. I figured that wouldn't be a problem since it is a nice shade for fall/winter, but man was I wrong. This may be the last product I finish because it has such intense pigmentation that you don't really need much, especially on my fair skin.
4. Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm - I have gotten some decent use out of this and am not too worried about finishing it up. I do wish it wasn't so pink on my skin though. It has been nice to mix with my Rimmel Stay Matte foundation that is just a bit too heavy feeling and light colored for my skin tone.
5. Kat Von D studded kiss lipstick in Lovecraft - I thought I had used more of this. I love the color and the pigmentation of the lipstick is perfect. I don't find that I have to do more than 1 swipe. It is a really comfortable formula for me. I would consider buying a full size of this lipstick once I finish a few more lipsticks in my collection.
6. Jordana easy liner in Rock n' Rose - No surprise that I have finished as much of this as I have. I already have a backup and this looks perfect under just about all of my lipsticks. Even when my lipstick fades this always stays on and looks good.
7. Stila Stay All Day concealer - haven't used this at all yet. Working on other concealers in my Finish 14 by Feb. 14.
8. This was originally the ELF Instant Lift Brow Pencil, but I used that all of once before it broke and fell out of the packaging. It is smashed into my carpet. I'm not too happy about this....But I did swap it for another brow pencil that also happens to be the cheapest item in my collection. It is the Salon Pro Brow Pencil in Taupe. This was in a previous project and it very close to being done, so I decided to just add it here.
9. NYC City Proof 24 Hr. Eye Primer - I didn't think I had used this much, but I guess I did. It is alright, I like that it doesn't add too much pigmentation so I have enjoyed using it while I play with my Lorac Mega Pro 2 palette. I do feel like it accentuates the dry skin that is between my lid and brow, I didn't even think I was dry there.
10. Elf Mist and Set - No surprise that I am going through this pretty well. I use it everyday.
11. Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in Get Ready - I wasn't aware that I have used this much of the lipstick. I layer a lot of my lipsticks together because I like dimension on my lips, so I guess that is how I've been getting through it. It is also a creamier consistency than the Kat Von D lipstick.
12. NYC Smooth Skin bronzer - I am so close to hitting pan. I don't understand how I haven't yet. You can kind of see the dip in the center. I have been using it as a transition shade, it looks really good there.

If you made it all the way to the end, you are a serious trooper. It is a lot to get through, but once I start finishing the products it will get shorter. I included a close up of the sheet with all my markings this time so you can see the progress I made there.
Goals for next month:
1. The brow pencil is getting close to a place of not being able to be sharpened anymore, so that should be gone soon.
2. I am determined to hit pan on that bronzer.
3, I am pretty sure I can get through the loose powder as well by next month.

Loreal Brow Stylist Plumper Review

Hello lovelies, today I bring for you another review. I have been using the Maybelline clear mascara as a brow gel for a while now, but I realized that it just wasn't doing the trick for me. The tail ends of my brows grow long pretty fast and so I need something strong to tame them. I can't justify spending $20 on the Anastasia brow gel, especially since I don't know if it will work. I have been noticing a few of the youtubers I watch using the Loreal Brow Stylist Plumper, so I finally got my hands on it.

At first I was excited to get this because I thought it would be able to be a quick fix to fill in my brows when I don't feel like actually filling them in. This was not the case. I have it in medium dark, so the color isn't the issue. However, when I used it on it's own I had to use so much of it that I felt it on my skin. That is an issue I have noticed while I am using it. It makes my eyebrows crunchy if I wear too much of it and if I try to brush through it after it has dried it flakes off. You know the way a dry mascara does? At the same time though, my eyebrows do not move whatsoever while I am wearing this.

I have heard mixed reviews about this product, and after using it for over a month I can see why. I feel like once I finish it I won't want to buy it, but at the drugstore there aren't that many options for tinted brow gels that can actually hold the eyebrow hairs in place. There is a new Rimmel one that I want to try out but I haven't seen it at any of the stores I have gone to lately.

Pros - Gives a decent tint to the brows, holds hairs in place, small enough wand that I don't make too much of a mess.
Cons - If you put too much on it will give you incredibly crunchy, stiff brows. If you put too much it will also flake off.

At the end of the day, if it is on sale and I can't find anything else I will buy it again, but I guess my search will just have to keep going on for a good eyebrow gel at the drugstore. If you have any suggestions let me know!

Finish 13 by Halloween Finale

Happy Halloween Everyone!
Today, I bring you all my final update for my Finish 13 by Halloween Project Pan.

First are the products that I finished:

I don't remember the order I finished these, but you can go look back on the first 2 updates that I did. I have the blush and bronzer from the Blushed/Bronzed contour duo which I wanted to hit pan on each and did that. I think once I finish this blush I will just toss it, the bronzer is splotchy and keeps getting hard pan. Mac Mineralized Skin Finish Natural is a great powder that I will definitely be repurchasing now that I have finished this one. The Yaby Natural Finish liquid foundation took a lot longer to finish than I thought. It looks like there is some in the but nothing was coming out anymore. It was alright, I won't go trying to find it though. I never felt that it wore well on my skin. I finished the half of the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded. I didn't think I could do it honestly. It really helped when I brought it back to life with a spritz of elf Mist and Set. Almay Liquid Lipbalm was another one that took longer to finish than I thought. I took out the stopper and got ever drop that I could get out of there. It was nice, but I don't think that I would repurchase this again. Last are the 2 Maybelline Babylips in Cherry Me and Twinkle. These were pretty simple to get through, but like I mentioned before, I just want all of these out of my collection and I won't be repurchasing. They are just not as moisturizing as I would like.

Now onto the products that I didn't finish:

So I have the Garnier BB Cream that I really thought I would finish. However, towards the end it just got way to dark for my skin and so I started mixing it with my Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation for my next project. This is nearly empty so I am going to toss it because it is really old and it has been doing some funny things on my skin. By the time I get to wear it again on it's own it will be over 3 years old and since it has spf in it, I just don't feel comfortable holding onto it any longer. I did use a really large amount of it though. The pixi flawless beauty primer...I haven't used it since the last update. I actually put it away because I knew that there was no way that I would be able to use it all up and so i just gave up. I will use it form time to time just because I like the finish it gives my foundation when this is used underneath. I didn't want to just get through it because I enjoy using it and didn't want it to just go to waste because I am trying to finish it. The Rimmel Scandaleyes in Black is the next product that wasn't even close to being finished. I did put this on the back burner after the last update as well. I just don't feel like this preforms as well as my nude one. It always transferred to my waterline when I used it as a tightliner. Also it smudged underneath my eyes. It is the only one in the line that does that though, the rest are all really great. The Salon Perfect eyebrow pencil in taupe had steady progress over the last 2 months. Some days I really liked the way my brows looked with this, and others they looked far too heavy. That is obviously just user error though. Last is the Mac Studio Finish concealer. I made amazing progress on this since the beginning of the project. It is now too dark for my skintone and so I will be putting it on the side, but I liked using it. I won't repurchase though because I did feel like it was too heavy for underneath my eyes, but on the otherhand it is really good at covering my dark circles. I think once I finish it completely I will have to see what other concealers I have. I might get it but in a darker color. I don't know...let me know what you guys think of this concealer.

So there you have it. I finished 8/13 products that were in this project, technically 9 if you consider the fact that I am tossing the BBCream. I am really happy with that since my goal was to finish 7! I was really happy with the fact that I won't be repurchasing a lot of these products since that means that I will have fun trying to find new things instead to fall in love with. Life is too short to hoard makeup that you just don't love!

Have a safe and Happy Halloween everyone!!

Love to Project Pan!! Finish 14 by Feb. 14

Hello lovelies, well I guess you can tell by the title of this post that I am joining yet another seasonal project pan. This one was created by Kristen Kay and GlamourWithGrace on youtube. I am really excited to be doing this and there are a lot of products so I will just get right into it!

So here they are. My 14 products....well 15 since I am counting 2 as one. I just realized that the paper got a bit cut off on the bottom, but those initial lines don't matter until they are in comparison to the next update, sorry about that though. I think I will post a picture of just the paper over on my instagram: subtlebeauty27blog so go follow me there for clearer pictures!

1. Revlon - Kissable Balm Stain in Honey. I am sure you all know what this cult favorite looks like. Mine is pretty old and all of the label on the packaging has rubbed off. I love this color, but am ready to start moving things out of my collection. This will probably be something I repurchase though!

2. Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer and Benefit - Porefessional. These are both such small sample sizes that I decided that I would consider the 2 of them together as one product. The photo finish is basically unused so you can't even see the line I drew on it. I couldn't figure out where I was with the porefessional, but I have used it far more than the other one. It shouldn't take me long to finish it up. I just want to make sure I use it before it goes bad!

3. Rimmel - Stay Matte Mouse Foundation. I like this product alright, I probably won't repurchase it once I am done. It feels heavy on my skin and can cling to dry patches.

4. The Balm - Nude Dude single shadow in Flirty. I love this as an all-over shadow. I love this shadow a lot, but it is taking up space and I just got the entire palette in a Hautelook order today, so I just want to use this up. Also I feel like it is a great color for Autumn/Winter.

5. It Cosmetics - Bye Bye Undereye. I have had this little sample in my collection for too long and I don't really care for it. I just want to move it out.

6. Benefit - Watts Up. Love this product, but I hardly use it and I don't know why. It is absolutely beautiful, and I want to use it before it goes bad. I also have it in a little pot from last Christmas when I bought the blush palette. It is a shame to just let them go to waste by drying up in my drawers.

7. Noyah - lipstick in Desert Rose. This isn't too old, but I probably won't use it unless it is in a project because it isn't a color that I gravitate to very much. I want to just get it out of my collection.

8. Mary Kay - Nourishine lip gloss in au Naturel. I love the look of this lip gloss. I want to use it before it goes bad though and again the only way that will happen is if it is in a project. I'm not sure if I would repurchase it when I am done only because I don't wear lip glosses very often and I just don't want them cluttering my collection anymore.

9. Maybelline - Babylips in Grape Vine. Another baby lips to move out. This is basically brand new and that is because it is my second tube of it. The first chapstick I ever finished was the one in this shade. It gives a nice wash of purple on the lips, a wearable purple for me. It is probably the only baby lips that I would consider ever purchasing again.

10. Bare Minerals - 5 in 1 base. I have used this a couple of times and it is a nice base. I don't know that I would buy a full size once this is out though.

11. Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Brightener. I like this concealer and will definitely be repurchasing, however I don't think I will get it in the brightener again. It is an almost white because of how bright it is. I have to wear it underneath my foundation so that it doesn't look so stark.

12. tre'stique - Mini-Matte lip crayon in Nantucket Nude. Another product I wouldn't use unless it was in a project.

13. Rimmel - Scandaleyes in Nude. I had this in a previous project and clearly I didn't finish it up. I have about 4 months this time around and I think that will be enough time to finish it up though. I do already have a backup of this since I love it so much, I thought it would be a good idea to add a product that I am already using every day regardless of if it is in a project or not.

14. Pacifica - eyeliner in Fringe. I have had this in my collection for a while. I thought it would be a good idea to add it since I have only used it a couple of times. Also I want something that isn't black right now.

So there are my 14 things that I need to finish by February 14, 2016. I think I can actually do this if I put my mind to it. I am only really worried about the Watts Up because it is such an amazing product that I don't need much. I will try to get creative with it though! Let me know if you are going to join in on the joy that is another project pan. Also, don't forget to check out the 2 youtubers I mentioned earlier, they are amazing at juggling multiple project pans and it is always encouraging to see someone else's progress as motivation!

Okay, so I completely spaced and forgot to pull out my eye shadow in Flirty from The Balm. Here is a picture of it. It has some use so I am not too worried about using it up.

Too Faced Stardust by Vegas Nay Palette Review

Hello my lovelies, I am extremely excited to bring for you all today a review of this gorgeous and limited edition palette. I finally decided to get this and I couldn't be more happy with my decision. It is such a beautiful palette with amazing shadows and other extra goodies! The shadows are amazingly pigmented and blendable, easy for me to work with even though I am not the greatest at smoky eyes.

The palette comes with 12 large shadows. Finishes are matte and shimmer. I got the descriptions of the colors from Ulta's website.

First 6 Shadows
Chandelier: matte cream
Millennial: matte warm medium brown
Girl's Night: matte deep warm brown
#selfie: cream white with slight silver shimmer
Showgirl: bronzed pearl
Jackpot: brown with gold shimmer

My favorites from these are Millennial and Showgirl. You'll see in the swatches how beautiful these shades are. I was underwhelmed a bit by Chandelier on first swatch, but it applies well to the brow bone.

Left to right: chandelier, millennial, girl's night, #selfie, showgirl, jackpot
Last 6 shadows

Pink Pearl: pearl cool light pink
The Strip: silvered mauve
Follow Me: vibrant blue sparkle with blue shimmer
Double Tap: deep red brown with violet sparkle
Golden Nugget: gold foiled coppery shimmer
Sin City: matte black

Double Tap and Golden Nugget are definitely winners for me with these 6. Sin City wasn't the blackest in my opinion, but I don't black that often so I don't mind that. Also, Follow Me gorgeous and you can kind of see it in the swatch that it has a bit of a dual chrome finish. I didn't think I would like it nearly as much as I do. I can't wait to do some looks with it.

Left to right: pink pearl, the strip, follow me, double tap, golden nugget, sin city

The set also came with a deluxe glamour dust glitter pigment in Nude Beam, a deluxe Better Than Sex mascara, a deluxe Shadow Insurance eye shadow primer, and 6 glamour guides. I am just as excited about all of these extras as I am about the shadows. I haven't tried any of the makeup items, but I have heard great reviews on all of them. I don't want to open any since I am trying to finish off some older things. I have tried 2 of the looks from the glamour guide cards, they are easy to follow and I was happy with the way the looks came out.

Project Pan Roulette

Hello lovelies, so I decided that I would do yet another project pan. I am really enjoying doing these and seeing that I am actually using products and not just letting them go to waste by sitting in my collection. This time I decided to go with a project pan roulette. I like the idea that I don't really know what I am going to have to finish up.

Here is a list that I put on little pieces of paper and chose from a hat. Some I was excited about choosing because I knew right away what I was going to use, others were a little more difficult.

1. An Item of your choice
2. A product you are loving
3. something fun
4. a product from a palette
5.  a cream product
6. a deluxe sized item
7. a bronzer
8. a blush
9. a product you regret buying
10. a product you have a love/hate relationship with
11. something you already hit pan on
12. an item in a color you don't normally wear
13. a loose powder product
14. a new item in your collection
15. on of the oldest items in your collection
16. an item that was a gift
17. an item with beautiful packaging
18. one of your most expensive items
19. one of your cheapest items
20. a drugstore item
21. a lip product
22. an item from your favorite brand

I decided to choose 12 different categories and as soon as I finish 10 of the 12 products, I would consider that a win and the project will be over. As of right now I am not sure whether I want to give myself a time limit or not because I think I may be starting another seasonal challenge. I will let you guys know once I do my first update. On to the things I pulled!

1. Loose powder product: NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder. Completely freaked out when I chose this because they are not the easiest thing to finish, but I think I can get through it.

2. One of the oldest: Artistry Light Up Lip Gloss in Champagne. I need to move this out of my collection because it really is one of my oldest and I don't wear it nearly enough.

3. Blush: Wet n Wild blush in Heather Silk. My goal is to just hit pan on this. Figured I would pick a blush that I wouldn't mind wearing in Autumn and into Winter.

4. Product I regret buying: Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm. I got this when Ulta had it for 50% off, so I only paid $17 for it, but I never reach for it because it has next to no coverage whatsoever. Could have gotten other things with that money that wouldn't have just sat in my collection the way this has.

5. Beautiful Packaging: Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Love Craft. This was a point perk on Sephora, I love the packaging on this. Also the only other things in my collection that have beautiful packaging are palettes and I didn't want to include any of them.

6. Product I am Loving: Jordana Easy Liner for Lips in Rock n' Rose. I am obsessed with this lip liner. I use it everyday because it is my perfect nude. My favorite lip liner of all time!

7. New Item: Stila Stay All Day concealer. I got this on Hautelook but haven't done more than just swatch it because I have been trying to use up other concealers.

8. Cheapest Item: ELF Instant Lift Brow Pencil. Haven't even used this yet since I am using up another brow product, but look forward to trying it out. If it does work out well that would be exciting since it is only a couple of dollars!

9. Cream Product: NYC City Proof 24 Hr Eye Primer. Debated whether I should have this here or under product I regret buying. I like using the maybelline color tattoos to enhance the eyeshadow I put over it, so I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this honestly. I look forward to moving it out of my collection though.

10. Drugstore Item: ELF Mist and Set. I enjoy using this product in my day to day routine as it is, so I thought why not just add in something I won't get bored with using.

11. Lip Product: Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready. This is a deluxe sized sample lipstick I got in ipsy, I have had it for too long and haven't worn it, but it being in a project will basically force me to use it.

12. Item of my choice: NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny. I have had this for so long and would feel guilty using another one while this is just sitting in my collection. I am just aiming to use this until it hits pan to count it completed.

So there is the list. If you have made it to the end of this post I applaud you. Again the goal is to finish 10 of the 12 items. I'll write to you all with another update soon!

Finish 13 by Halloween Update #2

Hello my lovely readers, today I bring for you my 2nd update for my Finish 13 by Halloween project pan. Now, I know it is the 3rd and I should have posted on the 30th of September, but school and work have officially overtaken my life. I did however take the photos on that day, and that is why the quality of them isn't the greatest. Anyway, there are a lot of products so I will just get right into it.

All 13 of my products.
So, I guess I will start with face products.  The Garnier BB Cream has some considerably less product in it. The Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer, I honestly don't know what my progress on this is. I can't get the air out of the top and it is hard for me to see through the packaging. This is one of the items that I am pretty sure I won't be finishing. The Yaby Natural Finish foundation has also got some progress on it. If I just use it more exclusively like I had planned, I probably would have been done with it by now. For the past week I have been only using it and I found a way to make it work better with my skin so I don't mind using it as much as I was before. I have a lot more pan on the Mac Mineralized Skinfinish Natural. I'm pretty confident that I will be finishing that one up soon. I have finally hit pan on the Mac Studio Finish Concealer. I was working on only one side, but then realized that that wouldn't have shown up in the photos and so I started in on the middle again. Because of how I was using it though, I am almost done with half of on side.

Next, I have a variety of the other products. First is the Rimmel Scandaleyes in Black. I am not making the greatest progress on this and since I am only using it to tightline, I wasn't expecting much. I will continue to use it for the rest of the month, but I will be happy to use something that won't transfer everywhere as much as this one does. Next is the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded. My progress with this is alright. I didn't really start using it until I finished with my Finsih 5 by Fall project pan because I had a base in there that I was using. The goal is to use half of that I have left of this, but I'm not sure that will happen. I have the Salon Perfects Brow Pencil, and I made good progress on this. It won't be finished based on the steady progress I have been making, but it will be pretty close and that is exciting. I'll be glad to move that out of my collection and use my new brow products. As for lips in this challenge, I have the Almay liquid lip balm in blooming and the Maybelline Babylips in Twinkle. Both have good progress on them. I'm not too worried about finishing either one of these.

As for the products that I have finished for this project, I have three! My Maybelline Babylips in Cherry Me was a pain to finish. It got really goopy towards its end. Also, the red wasn't a very flattering one on me and because I was trying to finish it, it was always splotchy and uneven looking. As for the other 2, they were both from the ELF Blush and Contour duo. I hit pan on the blush a lot earlier than the bronzer. I will probably choose to finish up this blush in a future pan because I really enjoyed using it. The bronzer however was another story. It looked a lot better as an all over shadow than as a bronzer. It was always really splotchy and uneven on me. Also, hard pan keeps forming over it, and it is annoying to have to deal with it. I may just toss it once I finish the blush completely, but for now I may just continue to use it as an allover shadow look on the days when I don't have too much time to get ready.

So there you have it. That was a lot to get through. I decided that if I finish 7 products from this project I will be proud of myself. The main goal for my doing all of these projects is to try to get through my products, make sure I am getting my moneys worth, and to make sure I use things before they go completely bad and become unusable. While I may put them on the side after the project is over, I won't completely just forget about them. Constantly having to use a product really lets you know if you like it enough that it would be considered repurchasable.

What I think I will be able to finish in the next month:
Maybelline Baby Lips in Twinkle
Mac Minieralized Skinfinish Natural
Mac Studio Finish Concealer
Yaby Natural Finish FOundation
Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Blooming.

Well, until my next post my fellow beauty lovers.
